There were plenty of ways to "tell" what sex your child was (they did have ultra sounds but they were so grainy 3 out of 4 of my daughters were deemed male!). My favorite is you have mom lay comfortably on her back and remove her wedding ring. You suspend the wedding ring from a piece of string and dangle it over the baby bump. If it swings back and forth you are supposed to have a boy, if it goes round and round in a circular motion than it was to be a girl.
Ultimately no matter what you always have a 50/50 chance of it going either way. Knowing what the sex of your baby is, is great for planning purposes but it does kind of take the fun out of being pregnant.I liked the suspense as you can imagine I was floored when my son was born after 4 girls! There are a lot of wives tales about how to have a baby boy, but very few about creating a little girl hmm.
There is a very popular book that describes how to conceive a baby boy, it involves making sure the sperm is closest to the cervix, because it is believed that sperm containing Y chromosomes are faster but die faster as well, so if you can give them boost by keeping your cervix tilted than you are likely to conceive a boy.
Does it work? It might! Babies are great no matter what sex they are. My mother use to say boy, girl it is all the same till you take their diaper off! Speaking of diapers, have you considered cloth as an option?
Cloth diapers are a lot easier to use than you think you can save money on diapers when you use cloth AND help the earth!
Give em a try you will be glad you did!
