Joe hopped a ride with his dad to school this morning. Annie did not get up to the alarm, Charlie the mushy baby is sick so it has been hectic. She called the children's dad to give the kids a lift to school. Joe is an opportunist and decided that it would be a prime day to scream and cry and refuse to exit the truck.
His father unable to leave his little boy at school in such angst thought it best to bring him on home. My daughter was livid. She was livid for the same reason that many of us would be pissed off. Women always have to be the bad ass. The one that says you have to stay at school and I am leaving you here.
Why do men hate to deal? I mean it seems like they do hate to just deal with the discomfort of having to be "that" parent that has "that" kid that is screaming their lungs out the fourth week of school! No one wants to be that parent but for men it seems to be especially uncomfortable.
They just don't like to draw that kind of attention to them selves but I do have to ask what kind of idiot gives into a 5 year old? Well clearly I know what kind of idiot gives into a 5 year old on such a huge issue. It is such a bad idea to give in on such a huge issue.
Now tomorrow will be twice as hard to get Joe on the bus because he will remember that dad let him off the hook today. Why oh why can't parents co parent better? I know parents that are still living together that can't agree on how to raise their children.
Raising children effectively means that everyone needs to be on the same page. Everyone must agree on limits and how to enforce those limits. One parent can not pull all the bad guy weight while the other does not have the courage to stand up!
Make sure you and your partner understand how important it is to keep communications open and to discuss out of juniors ear shot how you plan on handling things like discipline!
